FLORISTIC DIVERSITY OF CAMPUS OF GOVERNMENT COLLEGE FOR WOMEN M.A. ROAD, SRINAGAR (UT JAMMU & KASHMIR): A CHECKLIST

The UT of Jammu and Kashmir is known for its rich biodiversity. The college campus covers an area of 8.5 acre and is situated at an important place in the heart of Srinagar city. Although, green audit is being carried out annually in the college campus but complete inventorization and documentation of college flora has not been done till date. Therefore, the present study has been undertaken to identify and document the floristic diversity of the college campus. A total of 234 plant taxa were collected and identified during the present floristic survey. The recorded taxa are belonging to 197 genera and distributed over 72 families. The updated scientific nomenclature, family name, growth form and ecological status for each species growing in the campus is provided.
